Momentary panic at Ijebu-Jesa rally as platform giving way disrupts event before proceedings quickly resume.
There was panic on Wednesday in Osun State after a podium hosting Governor Ademola Adeleke and other top government officials suddenly collapsed during a political rally in Ijebu-Jesa.
A viral 30-second video showed the moment the structure caved in while musical performances were ongoing at the event, which had drawn a large crowd.

Those on the platform included Governor Adeleke, Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, Speaker of the House of Assembly Adewale Egbedun, and spokesperson of the Imole Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi.
The incident occurred as the event anchor was rounding off a session and preparing to announce the next item on the programme before the sudden collapse disrupted proceedings.
A source at the event said the situation caused temporary panic, but security operatives quickly evacuated those on the platform and normalcy was restored shortly after.
He added that the programme later continued, with the governor addressing attendees after the incident, insisting there were no casualties.
“The governor and some members of his cabinet were on that section of the podium. It gave way, but there was no injury. The event resumed afterward,” the source said.
The Osun State Government also downplayed the incident, describing it as less serious than portrayed in circulation.
Deputy Spokesperson to the Governor, Oladele Bamiji, confirmed that the event continued without interruption and that Adeleke proceeded to another engagement afterward in Odo-Otin Local Government Area.
“No injuries were recorded, and the programme went on smoothly,” he said.
Despite the scare, the rally eventually continued, with officials assuring supporters that the situation had been brought under control.
