Democracy Day Protest Rocks Lagos as Falz, Femi Falana Demand End to Insecurity

Human rights activists, civil society groups and concerned Nigerians take to the streets, urging government to prioritise citizens’ safety and welfare.

Popular rapper and activist Falz, alongside renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN), women’s rights advocate Funmi Falana and other concerned Nigerians, joined a Democracy Day protest in Lagos, calling for urgent action to address the country’s worsening insecurity.

The protesters marched through parts of the city, demanding stronger measures to protect lives and property, while expressing concern over the rising cases of kidnappings, killings and violent attacks across the country.

Carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, participants urged the Federal Government to place citizens’ security at the centre of its policies and ensure that communities across Nigeria are safe from criminal activities.

The demonstration also highlighted concerns about economic hardship and the need for improved governance, with protesters insisting that democracy should deliver tangible benefits, security and better living conditions for Nigerians.

The protest formed part of activities marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, as citizens used the occasion to call attention to pressing national issues and demand greater accountability from leaders.
