Party says decision follows wide consultations as coalition ticket takes shape ahead of 2027 polls.
The African Democratic Congress has announced former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi as the vice-presidential candidate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for the 2027 general election.
The party said the decision followed extensive consultations with party leaders, coalition partners, youth and women stakeholders, and representatives across all geopolitical zones, describing the pairing as a “national ticket” aimed at addressing Nigeria’s political and economic challenges.

According to the ADC, Amaechi emerged as runner-up in its presidential primary and was selected based on his experience in legislative leadership and executive governance, including his tenure as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and two-term governor of Rivers State.
The party added that the Atiku–Amaechi ticket represents a united front built to restore confidence in governance, strengthen national cohesion, and provide an alternative platform ahead of the 2027 elections.
