Victim regains freedom less than 24 hours after abduction as coordinated operation forces kidnappers to abandon him.
The Oyo State Police Command has rescued a 60-year-old farmer, Mathew Owoade, who was abducted along the Igbojaye–Budo Aare bush road in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the victim regained his freedom on Monday after a coordinated security operation mounted by the police and other security agencies.
According to the police, sustained investigative efforts and intense operational pressure forced the kidnappers to abandon the victim, allowing him to escape unharmed.
Owoade has since been taken to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment and will be debriefed by investigators after receiving medical care as efforts continue to track down and arrest those behind the abduction.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Abimbola, commended the security agencies, community members and residents for their cooperation during the rescue operation.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring residents that criminal elements would not be allowed to operate freely anywhere in Oyo State.
