APC confirms continuity of Tinubu-Shettima ticket as President dismisses months of speculation over vice president’s political future.
President Bola Tinubu has formally presented Vice President Kashim Shettima with his certificate of nomination as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election, reaffirming the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket ahead of the polls.
The presentation was disclosed in a video shared on Thursday by the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Olusegun Dada.

In the footage, Shettima was seen arriving at the venue and exchanging pleasantries with President Tinubu before receiving the certificate confirming his nomination as the APC vice-presidential candidate.
“President Bola Tinubu presents certificate to Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate in the 2027 election,” Dada wrote while sharing the clip.
Reacting to questions about speculation surrounding Shettima’s political future, Dada dismissed reports suggesting the vice president had been sidelined.
“At no point was the Vice President’s place in this administration under any doubt. People just create scenarios in their head and start cooking,” he said.
The development comes days after the APC officially confirmed Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate on July 10, putting an end to months of uncertainty over whether the President would retain him on the party’s ticket.
The ruling party has also expressed confidence that the Tinubu-Shettima ticket will secure a second term in office, having already submitted its nomination documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the stipulated deadline.
The latest move signals the APC’s determination to maintain continuity as preparations for the 2027 general election gather momentum.
