Humanitarian Affairs Ministry warns Nigerians against fraudulent links and fake messages circulating online.
The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has debunked reports claiming it has commenced registration for a purported ₦50,000 National Support Allowance.
In a public notice shared on its official X handle on Sunday, the ministry described the messages, websites, and links promoting the alleged programme as fraudulent and urged Nigerians to disregard them.
“The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has NOT commenced registration for any ₦50,000 National Support Allowance,” the ministry stated.
It added, “Disregard fraudulent messages, links and websites claiming otherwise. Verify any info only through official government channels.”
The ministry’s clarification follows the circulation of a fake flyer alleging that the programme was being implemented under the directive of President Bola Tinubu.
The misleading advertisement, written in both Hausa and English, directs unsuspecting members of the public to a suspicious website to submit applications.
Officials warned that the fake scheme is part of a growing trend of digital scams targeting vulnerable Nigerians seeking government assistance and social intervention programmes.
The ministry advised citizens to rely solely on official government platforms for information regarding humanitarian and poverty reduction initiatives.
Similar fraudulent campaigns have emerged in recent years around government intervention programmes, including N-Power and other social investment schemes, prompting repeated warnings from authorities.
