Says President Tinubu is satisfied with security gains, vows to sustain fight against terrorism and banditry.
Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (retd.), has dismissed reports claiming he resigned from office, describing them as false and malicious while threatening legal action against those behind the rumours.
Speaking after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday, Musa said he was shocked by the reports and had never discussed leaving office.
“I am not going anywhere. I have never discussed this. I don’t even know who the person is that brought that information. Whoever it is, we will take legal action against them,” he stated.
The Defence Minister said the rumours were a deliberate attempt to undermine public confidence in the administration’s security achievements, insisting that security across the country is steadily improving.
According to him, President Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the military’s performance during their meeting and encouraged security agencies to sustain ongoing efforts against terrorism and banditry.
“I just came back from briefing Mr President on the current security situation, and he is very happy with us. We are going to continue doing well,” Musa added.
He also commended Nigerians for supporting the military’s operations, stressing that defeating terrorists and bandits requires collective efforts.
“The support has been massive. To defeat the terrorists and the bandits is a whole-of-society approach. Nigerians have keyed into it, and things are getting better, and they will continue to improve,” he said.
Gen. Musa, who was appointed Minister of Defence by President Tinubu in December 2025 after serving as Chief of Defence Staff, reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening national security and delivering on the administration’s mandate.
