Coalition leaders say gathering will strengthen alliance and promote youth-driven leadership ahead of future political engagements.
The youth leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State has announced a joint unity meeting to strengthen their coalition and reaffirm support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.
The meeting, according to a notice jointly signed by the PDP State Youth Leader, Comrade Olalekan Bello, and the APM State Youth Leader, Ambassador Olumide Ojo, is aimed at fostering harmony among members of both parties and sustaining the youth-focused leadership style of the governor.
The organisers said recent political developments have made it necessary for members of the PDP/APM coalition to unite and work together to ensure the continued success of the alliance across the state.
“The events of the past few months have made it necessary for us to harmonise, unite, and reaffirm our loyalty to the youth-oriented government of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde (GSM),” the statement read.
It added that the coalition remains committed to preserving and strengthening the legacy of youth-driven leadership in Oyo State while working towards the success of its candidates across the state.
The unity meeting is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Tafo Arena, Polytechnic Road, Ibadan, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Organisers disclosed that transportation arrangements would be coordinated through the Local Government Youth Leaders of both parties to ensure broad participation from members across the state.
The youth leaders urged members of the coalition to attend the meeting, stressing that unity and solidarity remain essential to preserving the achievements of the current administration and building a stronger future for Oyo State.
They expressed confidence that the gathering would further consolidate the PDP/APM alliance and deepen youth participation in governance and political mobilisation in the state.
