The former Zamfara governor pledges to lead the campaign with unity, discipline and respect for Nigerians.

Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has accepted his appointment as Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.

Yari, who represents Zamfara West in the Senate, expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and the APC leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility.

The appointment followed President Tinubu’s constitution of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, announced by the Presidency on Saturday in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Under the arrangement, Yari will serve as Director-General of the council, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was named Secretary.

Reacting to his appointment, Yari said he accepted the responsibility with gratitude and seriousness.

He thanked President Tinubu and the party leadership for the confidence reposed in him, stressing that he would not take the assignment lightly.

Yari described the 2027 campaign as more than an electoral contest, saying it would involve engaging Nigerians across states, languages and faiths on the future of the country.

He pledged to lead the campaign with discipline, unity and respect for Nigerians, while assuring that work would begin immediately.

The former Zamfara governor also called on Nigerians across political divides to choose progress over division, saying the APC would seek to win public confidence based on its record rather than “noise.”

Yari concluded by expressing optimism that the APC would emerge victorious in the January 2027 presidential election.
