The Oyo State Post Primary Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has visited teachers and students affected by the recent abduction in Oriire Local Government Area of the state, assuring them of continued government support.
The delegation, led by the TESCOM Chairman, Mrs Olubukola Oladipo, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Serifat Abimbola, and other senior officials of the commission, visited the victims and their immediate families to express solidarity and reaffirm the government’s commitment to their welfare, safety and recovery.
Speaking during the visit, Oladipo commended the victims for their courage and resilience despite the trauma they experienced.
She assured them that the state government would continue to provide the necessary support to enable them return to their normal activities.
The TESCOM chairman also said the government was putting new safety mechanisms in place to prevent a recurrence of such security incidents in the state.
The Permanent Secretary, Serifat Abimbola, encouraged the affected teachers and students not to be discouraged by the incident, assuring them that measures were being implemented to improve security.
Abimbola also distributed gifts and other relief materials to the victims, saying the government had ensured that the Oriire abductees received support to aid their mental recovery from the trauma.
Responding on behalf of the victims, one of the affected teachers expressed appreciation to the Oyo State Government and TESCOM for the visit, describing it as a source of comfort and encouragement.
The visit ended with prayers for the victims and their families, alongside renewed calls for improved security in public schools and communities across the state.
