Police launch joint operation after attack on motorists along Itobe–Ochadamu Expressway.
One person has been killed and another abducted after gunmen attacked motorists along the Itobe–Ochadamu Expressway in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The attack occurred at about 5pm on Thursday, August 27, around Ojuwo Olijo, when the assailants emerged from the surrounding bush and opened fire on motorists, according to the Kogi State Police Command.

The police said a blue Toyota Corolla was later found abandoned on the highway, with the driver, identified as Hon. Ishaq Yunusa, dead inside the vehicle. Another occupant was reportedly taken into the bush by the attackers.
The deceased was evacuated to Grimard Hospital, Anyigba, for autopsy, while security personnel launched a joint operation to rescue the abducted victim and apprehend the gunmen.
Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Kankarofi, directed sustained operations around the affected corridor and urged motorists and residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies.
The police said further updates would be provided as the investigation and search operation continue.
