Attackers Flee Before Reinforcements Arrive as Security Agencies Launch Manhunt
Unknown gunmen have attacked an Operation Burst security base within a forest reserve along the Igbeti–Igboho axis in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The attackers reportedly stormed the base between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, opening fire on security personnel with powerful weapons.

According to a security update from the Oorelope Local Government Command, operatives received a distress call and mobilised alongside personnel from other security agencies to the scene.
However, the attackers had fled before the security team arrived.
Preliminary findings indicated that the gunmen, who reportedly came in large numbers, may have attempted to overrun the base, kill the personnel and seize their weapons.
The attackers allegedly set fire to a block within the security facility and a patrol van, destroying both.
Security operatives subsequently combed the surrounding forest and launched efforts to track down the assailants, but no arrests were made.
No casualty was recorded in the attack, according to the security update.
The Oorelope Local Government Command said further details would be released as investigations and security operations continue.
The incident has raised fresh security concerns around the forest reserve and the Igbeti–Igboho axis, although the identities and motive of the attackers remain unknown.
