Ambassador-Designate Says President Has No Criminal Record, Cites Privacy Concerns Over FBI Files
Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has dismissed speculation surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s records with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), insisting that the President has no criminal record.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Omokri said there was nothing mysterious about the FBI records, noting that such records exist for individuals who have dealings with the agency.
“The President has no criminal record,” Omokri said.
He argued that the records should not necessarily be made public because they may contain sensitive personal information, including biometric or biological data.
Omokri cited a previous controversy involving singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, when he argued that DNA records could be misused if released publicly.
According to him, the privacy concerns surrounding such information explain why the President may not want the FBI records released.
Omokri also maintained that Tinubu’s declared age is his actual age, while dismissing speculation surrounding the President’s personal records.
The comments come amid renewed public debate over documents relating to Tinubu reportedly held by the FBI.
