Commissioner Presents Cheques to Next-of-Kin Under Group Life Assurance Scheme
The Borno State Police Command has disbursed ₦40.7 million to families of police officers who died in the line of duty under the Nigeria Police Force Group Life Assurance Scheme.
The Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, presented the cheques to the beneficiaries during a ceremony, according to a statement issued on Friday by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Nahum Daso.
The beneficiaries comprised next-of-kin and family members of officers who lost their lives while serving the country.
Abdulmajid, while delivering the Inspector-General of Police’s message, said the welfare of police personnel and their families remained a priority for the Force.
He described the insurance scheme as an important mechanism for providing financial support to families of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation.
The commissioner urged the beneficiaries to use the funds prudently to support their families’ education, healthcare and general welfare.
He also commended the Inspector-General of Police for sustaining the Group Life Assurance Scheme and providing financial relief to families of fallen officers.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Jones Madah thanked the IGP for the gesture and assured that the funds would be used judiciously.
