Nwifuru Orders Commissioner to Hand Over Government Property, Ministry to Permanent Secretary
Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has ordered the immediate removal of the state Commissioner for Works, Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam, from office.
The directive was contained in a Public Service Announcement issued on Saturday and signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor.
Nwifuru directed Mbam to immediately hand over all government property in his possession, including his official vehicle, to the Secretary to the State Government.
The governor also ordered the former commissioner to transfer the affairs of the Ministry of Works to the ministry’s Permanent Secretary pending further directives.
The statement did not give a specific reason for Mbam’s removal, but said the decision was part of the administration’s efforts to deliver effective governance and improve public infrastructure.
Mbam’s removal follows his previous suspension by Governor Nwifuru in February 2026 alongside the Commissioner for Infrastructure Development for Concession, Engr. Ogbonnaya Obasi-Abara.
The two commissioners were suspended at the time over allegations of dereliction of duty.
While the February action was a suspension, Saturday’s directive formally removes Mbam from the Ebonyi State Executive Council.
