APC Secures Four of Five Legislative Seats in Gombe, Kano, Delta and Bauchi
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has congratulated the party’s four candidates who won seats in the legislative by-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday.
Yilwatda, in a statement posted on his X handle on Sunday, congratulated Kallamu Usman MaiJama’a, Husseini Datti, Okolosi Ator and Yakubu Ali on their victories in Gombe, Kano, Delta and Bauchi states respectively.
The five bye-elections comprised one federal constituency and four state constituencies across the four states. The APC won four seats, while the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) won the Sakwa State Constituency seat in Bauchi.
Yilwatda said the results reflected the confidence placed in the APC and its candidates by voters, while commending party leaders, campaign teams and electorate for their participation in the democratic process.
He also commended INEC, security agencies and other stakeholders involved in the conduct of the elections.
In Gombe, Kallamu won the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency seat with 41,121 votes. The Labour Party scored 3,553 votes, while the APM polled 872.
Datti won the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency seat in Kano with 22,890 votes. The Peoples Redemption Party scored 270 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party polled 108.
In Delta, Ator won the Udu State Constituency seat with 8,724 votes, while the PDP scored 214 votes.
Ali secured the Disina State Constituency seat in Bauchi with 5,846 votes. The APM scored 5,225 votes, while the PRP polled 3,701.
However, the APM won the Sakwa State Constituency seat in Zaki Local Government Area of Bauchi with 8,515 votes. The APC scored 3,771 votes, while the PDP and PRP polled 2,076 and 727 votes respectively.
