Monarch Urges Well-Wishers to Support Motherless Babies’ Homes Instead of Elaborate Celebrations
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has urged the people and friends of Ibadan to mark his 82nd birthday and first anniversary on the throne with prayers and thanksgiving rather than elaborate celebrations.
Oba Ladoja will clock 82 on Friday, September 25, while his first anniversary as Olubadan falls on Saturday, September 26.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Adeola Oloko, on Sunday, the monarch said he would use the two occasions to thank God and pray for himself, the Ibadan traditional institution, Ibadanland, Oyo State and Nigeria.
He urged his subjects, friends and well-wishers to join him in prayers and thanksgiving.
The monarch expressed appreciation to the people for their support and cooperation during his first year on the throne, expressing hope for a better future.
He also appealed to friends and well-wishers of the Olubadan Palace to extend their generosity to people facing difficult circumstances.
Ladoja specifically urged them to support motherless babies’ homes of their choice, saying such gestures would allow less privileged people to share in the joy of the occasions.
He said the celebrations should be an opportunity to give thanks to God and commit the years ahead to His care.
