Suspected Bandit Killed, Terrorism, Kidnapping and Murder Suspects Arrested in Nationwide Operations

The Nigeria Police Force has reported operational successes across 10 states, including the killing of a suspected bandit, rescue of seven victims and arrest of suspects linked to terrorism, kidnapping and murder.

The Force disclosed this in an operational summary released on Wednesday covering incidents recorded between September 21 and 22, 2026.

In Benue State, police and joint tactical forces responded to an armed bandit attack at Abeda Market in Logo Local Government Area on September 22. One suspected bandit was killed, while two others were arrested. The police said no officer was injured in the operation.

In Katsina State, police foiled an attack on a vehicle carrying six female students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma along the Kankara-Dutsin-Ma Road. The bandits were repelled and fled into the bush, while all seven occupants were rescued unharmed, medically evaluated and reunited with the relevant authorities.

Police also arrested three suspects allegedly linked to an armed bandit syndicate in Katsina after foiling an attempted escape.

In Anambra State, four suspected members of an outlawed terrorist group were arrested during patrol operations in Okija. The police said the suspects confessed to membership of the group and provided information on its activities.

Also in Anambra, three suspects were arrested over the death of a 34-year-old man in Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government Area. The victim’s remains were recovered and deposited at a morgue for autopsy.

In Nasarawa State, police took custody of a suspected kidnapper following a citizens’ arrest. The suspect allegedly confessed to involvement in several kidnapping incidents and is assisting the investigation.

In Delta State, police re-arrested a suspect allegedly found with an illegal firearm, recovering a locally made cut-to-size gun and one live cartridge.

Detectives in Cross River State also arrested a principal suspect over the suspected murder of a 22-year-old woman, while police in Oyo State arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a 30-year-old man in Iwere-Ile.

In Ogun State, detectives arrested a suspect in connection with an alleged defilement case and took the victim to a medical facility for examination.

The police said investigations into the various cases are ongoing at the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments.
