Candidates must obtain a court affidavit, pay a prescribed fee and complete biometric verification at designated JAMB centres

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has introduced a process allowing candidates who have lost access to their registered phone numbers or email addresses to update their details on the JAMB portal.

The examination body announced the development in a video posted on its official X account on Wednesday, explaining the steps candidates must follow to access the service.

JAMB said the development followed complaints from candidates who were unable to change their registered phone numbers or email addresses, leaving some unable to receive result notifications or access their profiles.

“Candidates who lost their SIM card can now swap it with a new one. And those who also lost access to their email addresses on the JAMB portal can now change to a new one,” the board said.

How to change phone number or email on JAMB portal

Candidates who have genuinely lost access to their registered GSM numbers or email addresses are required to follow these steps:

  1. Obtain a court affidavit

Affected candidates must visit a High Court and obtain an affidavit supporting their request for a SIM swap or email change.

  1. Log into JAMB e-Facility

Candidates should log into their JAMB e-Facility profile after obtaining the affidavit.

  1. Select ‘Penalties’

From the e-Facility menu, candidates should select the “Penalties” option.

  1. Select ‘SIM Swap/Email Change’

Under the Penalties menu, select “SIM Swap/Email Change Penalty Payment.”

  1. Pay the prescribed fee

Candidates are required to pay the prescribed fee for the service through the JAMB portal.

  1. Visit a designated JAMB office

After payment, candidates must proceed to the nearest designated JAMB office to complete the process.

JAMB said the service is available only at designated JAMB PTC/PRC Centres.

  1. Provide profile code and existing GSM number

At the JAMB office, the candidate will be required to provide their profile code and existing GSM number.

  1. Complete biometric verification

The candidate will undergo biometric verification as part of the process.

  1. Upload the court affidavit

A scanned copy of the court affidavit must also be uploaded to complete the request.

Who can use the service?

JAMB said the service is specifically for candidates with genuine cases of lost access to their registered GSM numbers or email addresses.

The board also stated that the service can only be accessed once, advising candidates to ensure that all information provided during the process is accurate.
