Senator congratulates Olubadan on first anniversary, describes monarch as symbol of Ibadan’s history and culture

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has congratulated the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, on his 82nd birthday and first anniversary on the throne.

Alli, in a statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity of his campaign organisation, Bisi Oladele, in Ibadan on Friday, described Ladoja as a statesman, administrator, political strategist and traditional ruler whose life had been devoted to the service of Ibadanland, Oyo State and Nigeria.

The PUNCH reports that Ladoja was crowned the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland at Mapo Hall on September 26, 2025, following the death of his predecessor, Oba Olakulehin Owolabi.

Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, said the monarch’s 82nd birthday and first anniversary on the throne were milestones deserving of thanksgiving and celebration.

He described Ladoja’s journey from public service and political leadership to the traditional institution as a reflection of decades of experience, sacrifice and commitment to the development and unity of Ibadan.

“Your 82nd birthday and first anniversary on the throne are powerful reminders of a life of service, sacrifice, courage and uncommon dedication to humanity,” Alli said.

The APC candidate described the monarch as a repository of Ibadan’s history, culture, values and traditions, adding that his contributions to the city and Oyo State transcended political affiliations and generations.

He also said Ladoja’s experience, wisdom and understanding of the aspirations of the people remained valuable to the state.

“At 82, you have continued to demonstrate that true leadership is not about age, position or title, but about service, wisdom, character and the positive impact one makes on society,” he said.

Alli prayed for continued peace and prosperity in Ibadanland, Oyo State and Nigeria.

He also prayed that Allah would preserve and strengthen the monarch and grant him more years of fruitful service on the throne.

“May your reign continue to bring honour to Ibadanland, inspire generations and leave behind an enduring legacy of peace, unity and progress,” he said.

He concluded by wishing the Olubadan a happy 82nd birthday and first coronation anniversary.
