Over 428 workers secure housing allocations in Abuja, Kano and Lagos
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has supported more than 428 of its staff members to participate in the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme.

The housing initiative, being implemented through a public-private partnership involving the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and private developers, aims to provide 100,000 housing units across different parts of Nigeria.
Under the arrangement, NMDPRA and its staff cooperative structures provided financial assistance to participating employees to meet the equity contribution required to subscribe for housing units.
The first batch of more than 428 NMDPRA workers have secured allocations across developments in Abuja, Kano and Lagos.
The initiative is designed to help employees overcome the initial financial barrier to homeownership, while the remaining cost of the properties can be financed through applicable mortgage arrangements and instalment payment plans for eligible beneficiaries.
NMDPRA’s participation is also being presented as a model that other Ministries, Departments and Agencies, corporations and employee cooperatives could adopt to support workers seeking to acquire homes.
The Executive Management of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the National Revenue Service (NRS) are also said to be committed to providing financial support for their staff and cooperative members participating in the Renewed Hope housing projects.
The programme has attracted subscribers from several sectors, including oil and gas, energy, telecommunications, banking, finance, FMCG and the public sector.
Public-sector participants include employees and cooperatives linked to institutions such as the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Federal Ministry of Finance, NDIC, Family Homes Funds, NSIA, PENGASSAN, NCC, NNPC and SEC.
Private-sector cooperatives, including those associated with SEPLAT and NLNG, are also participating in the programme.
Mortgage and housing-finance institutions, including the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), are providing financing options for eligible subscribers seeking to fund the balance of their housing costs.
Construction is ongoing at various locations. In Abuja, about 2,500 housing units are being developed at Karsana, while the Janguza development in Kano has recorded progress with 1,000 completed units.
The Renewed Hope Cities Programme is part of the Federal Government’s broader effort to expand access to housing and housing finance through partnerships with public institutions, private developers, cooperatives and financial institutions.
