The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has vowed to resign as FCT Minister if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election in both the FCT and Rivers State.

Wike made the declaration during an engagement with the leadership and members of the Apo Mechanics and Traders Association in Abuja.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike said his continued stay in office was tied to his ability to deliver electoral results for the President in the FCT.

“If I cannot deliver where I work, then I’m not worthy to be here. If I lose FCT, I’m not supposed to be FCT Minister,” Wike said.

He added that he would announce his resignation on January 17, 2027, if Tinubu loses both Rivers State and the FCT.

Wike also disclosed that a multi-party coalition was being formed in the FCT to support candidates across various elective positions.

“For the Presidency, it is Bola Ahmed Tinubu! For the Senate, Philip Aduda is a man of the people,” he said, while identifying two former Area Council chairmen as the coalition’s preferred candidates for the House of Representatives.

“In the FCT, we are running a unified coalition across parties to deliver results,” Wike said.
