Parents of 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps members abducted while travelling from Oyo State to their orientation camps have said their captors demanded N1bn ransom for their release.

The parents disclosed this on Saturday when they visited the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, at his private residence in Bodija, Ibadan.

According to the parents, the abductors gave them a 24-hour deadline to raise the N1bn ransom.

The meeting was attended by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Abimbola, and the Aseyin of Iseyinland, Oba Sefiu Adeyeri.

The prospective corps members were reportedly abducted while travelling to their orientation camps, with their families appealing for urgent efforts to secure their safe release.
