States Release Teachers From Duty to Mark 2026 World Teachers’ Day

Teachers in Ekiti and Kwara states will observe Monday, October 5, 2026, as a work-free day to participate in activities marking World Teachers’ Day.

Ekiti State Commissioner for Education, Dr Adebimpe Aderiye, announced the declaration in a statement on Saturday, saying the measure would enable teachers to fully participate in the celebrations.

She directed all day students in the state to stay at home on Monday and urged parents, guardians and school authorities to make the necessary arrangements.

Aderiye commended teachers for their dedication and contributions to education and the development of children in Ekiti State.

Similarly, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq declared Monday a work-free day for teachers across the state.

The declaration was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mashood Agboola.

Governor AbdulRazaq congratulated teachers and commended their contributions to human capital development and their resilience in carrying out their duties.
