President Bola Tinubu has said a professional, ethical and responsible media remains indispensable to deepening Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

President Tinubu stated this on Sunday while congratulating the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Press Council, Dr Dili Ezughah, on his 65th birthday.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended Ezughah for his contributions to journalism, public communication and national development.

He also praised the NPC executive secretary for promoting professionalism, ethical conduct, responsibility and adherence to established media standards.

President Tinubu said Ezughah’s career reflected the importance of professionalism, dedication and service to the country, noting that his 65th birthday was an opportunity to recognise his contributions to Nigeria’s media landscape.

“Through your service at the Nigeria Press Council and your broader contributions to the media profession, you have continued to play a role in strengthening the standards, ethics and responsibilities that underpin a credible press.

“As our nation continues to deepen its democratic institutions, the role of a professional, ethical and responsible media cannot be overemphasised,” President Tinubu said.

The President also commended Ezughah’s commitment to what he described as an important national responsibility.

“I commend your commitment to this important national responsibility, and I wish you renewed strength, wisdom and good health as you continue to contribute to the development of our nation and the advancement of Nigerian Press,” he said.

President Tinubu joined Ezughah’s family, colleagues and associates in celebrating the milestone and wished him continued strength and good health in service to the country and the media profession.
