Remi Tinubu Calls on Families, Communities and Policymakers to Invest in Girls’ Well-being
Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called on families, communities, leaders and policymakers to strengthen efforts to protect girls’ rights, end child marriage and invest in their overall well-being.
Tinubu made the appeal in a statement commemorating the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child, observed under the theme, “End Child Marriage and Invest in Girls’ Rights.”

The First Lady celebrated the voices, strength, potential and leadership of girls, stressing that every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and pursue her dreams without discrimination, violence or harmful practices.
She urged stakeholders to take greater responsibility for creating an environment where girls can thrive and reach their full potential.
Tinubu noted that investing in girls benefits not only individuals but also their families, communities and the country at large, stressing that when girls thrive, families prosper, communities grow stronger and nations advance.
