Nine Passengers Shot Dead in Jos South as Mangu, Riyom Record Four More Deaths
At least 13 people have been killed and several others injured in separate attacks on communities in Jos South, Mangu and Riyom Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
The attacks reportedly occurred on Sunday night, with nine passengers travelling to Jos killed after suspected terrorists opened fire on their vehicle at Dungus in Jos South.
The spokesman of the Berom Youth Moulders (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, said the incident occurred at about 9:40 p.m. when the vehicle came under attack.
According to him, some of the injured victims were rushed to hospitals, where some later died. He added that one of those killed was a member of Operation Rainbow.
In a separate incident, suspected terrorists reportedly attacked Vodni community in Pushit District of Mangu Local Government Area, killing two people and injuring four others.
The injured victims were receiving treatment at a hospital in Mangu town.
Two other people were also reportedly killed in a separate attack at Tahoos in Riyom Local Government Area around the same period.
The attacks have heightened concerns over the security situation in Plateau State, with residents continuing to call for stronger measures to protect lives and property.
The state Commissioner of Police, Ayo Faniyan, confirmed that attacks had occurred but said the command was still gathering details.
He added that the police would issue an official statement after obtaining comprehensive information on the incidents.
