Commission deploys BVAS and IReV for transparency while election observers raise concerns over alleged vote-buying and political intimidation.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared its readiness for Saturday’s Ekiti State governorship election, assuring residents of a free, fair and credible voting process across the state.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Bunmi Omoseyindemi, said all logistical challenges had been resolved and adequate arrangements made for the deployment of personnel and election materials to the state’s 2,445 polling units.

INEC also confirmed that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) will be used to enhance transparency and enable real-time access to polling unit results.
Meanwhile, election observers under the European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria Election Observation Hub have raised concerns over alleged vote-buying, voter inducement, political intimidation and the spread of misinformation ahead of the poll.

More than 1.05 million registered voters are expected to participate in the election, which will determine whether incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji secures a second term or a new leader emerges. Other leading contenders include Oluwole Oluyede and Dare Bejide.
Security agencies have deployed personnel across strategic locations, while a statewide restriction on vehicular movement will be enforced from midnight until 6 p.m. on election day to ensure a smooth and peaceful exercise.
