Lawyer Deji Adeyanju says former Kaduna governor made the admission during a television interview as trial over alleged phone tapping continues.
A prosecution witness, Deji Adeyanju, has told the Federal High Court in Abuja that former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, admitted during a television interview that “we listened to the conversation of the NSA.”
Adeyanju, who appeared as the second prosecution witness in El-Rufai’s trial over alleged phone tapping of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, said he was present when the former governor made the statement during the interview.

The lawyer also confirmed that he was later invited by the Department of State Services (DSS) to provide details about the interview.
During cross-examination, Adeyanju clarified that El-Rufai did not specifically say he hacked the NSA’s phone lines but stated that “we listened to the conversation of the NSA.”
The court admitted several exhibits, including the television interview recording and Adeyanju’s own statement, while the case was adjourned until June 23 for continuation of trial.
