LASEMA concludes rescue operation as Governor Sanwo-Olu orders integrity tests on nearby buildings following the Alakija tragedy.
Nine people have been confirmed dead, while 27 others were rescued alive after a two-storey building collapsed at Alakija Bus Stop in Satellite Town, Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that rescue operations at the scene have been concluded following a coordinated emergency response involving multiple agencies and community members.

According to LASEMA, all 27 survivors received immediate pre-hospital treatment from the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) before being transferred to nearby hospitals for further medical care.
The agency disclosed that the fatalities included four adults who were confirmed dead before rescue teams arrived and five additional victims, among them a two-year-old baby girl. The bodies have been handed over to the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) for identification and release to their families.
LASEMA said its Director of Operations, Olanrewaju Akinsanya, led the operation, with heavy-duty excavators deployed alongside equipment from the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) to accelerate rescue efforts.
Reacting to the tragedy, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu directed the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) to immediately conduct structural integrity assessments on adjoining buildings and enforce strict compliance with building regulations in the area.
The Lagos State Government expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished those injured a speedy recovery, while urging residents to report distressed buildings to the appropriate authorities.
The incident occurred less than 24 hours after another building collapse was reported in Rivers State.
