Lagos governor orders demolition of illegal structures, unveils measures to improve waste collection and sanitation
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to illegal occupants and operators along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway to vacate the corridor ahead of a planned demolition exercise.
Speaking after the state’s monthly sanitation exercise, the governor said the government would remove all illegal structures obstructing the expressway, insisting that unapproved activities would no longer be tolerated. He also appealed to residents to support efforts aimed at keeping Lagos clean by disposing of waste properly and paying their waste management bills.

Sanwo-Olu disclosed that the state had procured an additional 150 compactor trucks to improve waste collection and is implementing a robust landfill management plan to enhance the efficiency of PSP operators. He warned that enforcement would begin after the expiration of the 72-hour notice, declaring that all illegal structures along the highway median would be cleared.
