Ajibade captains Nigeria as defending champions begin quest for an 11th continental title in Morocco.
Super Falcons head coach, Justin Madugu, has named a strong starting lineup for Nigeria’s opening Group C fixture against Malawi at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Rabat, Morocco.
The defending champions begin their quest for a record-extending 11th WAFCON title against tournament debutants, the Scorchers of Malawi.

Chiamaka Nnadozie starts in goal, with Mitchelle Alozie, Tosin Demehin, Osinachi Ohale and Shukurat Oladipo forming the backline. In midfield, captain Rasheedat Ajibade is joined by veteran Halimatu Ayinde and Jenifer Echegini.
Nigeria’s attack will be led by Chiwendu Ihezuo, with Esther Okoronkwo and Folashade Ijamilusi providing support in the final third.
The match marks Ajibade’s 34th appearance as captain of the Super Falcons, further underlining her leadership role in the team.
The nine-time African champions are aiming to successfully defend their crown in Morocco and add another continental title to their illustrious record.
This year’s WAFCON also doubles as the qualification tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the four semi-finalists guaranteed automatic qualification for the global showpiece.
