Electoral commission begins publication of presidential and National Assembly candidates’ particulars in line with Electoral Act 2026.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the public display of the personal particulars of candidates nominated by political parties for the 2027 General Elections, in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026.
The exercise, which began on Saturday, is part of the Commission’s revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 elections and covers candidates contesting the January 16, 2027, presidential election as well as National Assembly seats.

In a statement, INEC said the display is taking place at its State Head Office in Abuja and simultaneously across the six Area Council offices in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), allowing members of the public to scrutinise the credentials, affidavits and other documents submitted by candidates.
Representing the FCT Resident Electoral Commissioner, the Administrative Secretary, Bimbo Oladunjoye, said the exercise is a statutory requirement under Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, 2026, aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
She urged citizens, political parties, civil society organisations and the media to carefully examine the displayed documents, noting that public participation is essential to strengthening confidence in the electoral system.
Oladunjoye reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to conducting every stage of the 2027 electoral process in line with the Constitution, the Electoral Act, 2026, and the Commission’s regulations and guidelines.
