Trio visits former president in Abeokuta to discuss national issues ahead of the 2027 general election.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi have met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, as political consultations intensify ahead of the 2027 general election.
The meeting took place at Obasanjo’s residence, where the leaders sought what Makinde described as the elder statesman’s “wise counsel” on national issues.

Sharing photos from the visit on his social media platforms, Makinde said the discussions focused on matters of national importance in the build-up to the 2027 polls.

“Earlier today, we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR, in Abeokuta. Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election. We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history,” the governor wrote.
The meeting comes amid growing political realignments and consultations across the country as parties and key political figures prepare for the 2027 elections.
Makinde, who was elected governor under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is currently serving his second and final term in office. He is now a member of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and is expected to contest the 2027 presidential election on the party’s platform.
Although details of the meeting were not disclosed, the visit has fuelled fresh political interest as consultations among prominent political leaders continue ahead of the next general election.
