Ahmed Ajibola says he rejected two new appointments before resigning, dismisses claims of removal and attacks on President Tinubu.
Former Oyo State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, Ahmed Ajibola, popularly known as General H, has explained his decision to resign from the group, citing differences over the direction of its state structure and concerns about its leadership.
Ajibola, in a statement posted on Instagram on Friday, said his resignation was based on personal principles and convictions and should not be interpreted as a withdrawal of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
His statement followed reports on social media claiming that he had been removed as the movement’s Oyo State coordinator and made derogatory comments about President Tinubu, Seyi Tinubu and other leaders of the organisation.
Ajibola dismissed the reports as “false, malicious, and misleading”, insisting that he was neither dismissed nor suspended but voluntarily resigned from the movement.
He said he was offered the position of Coordinator, Directorate Affairs at the state level by the Oyo State Director on August 1, 2026.
Four days later, he said, the national leadership offered him another position as Coordinator, Stakeholder Engagement, South-West Structure.
Ajibola said he declined both appointments before submitting his resignation.
“If I had truly been sacked, where is the letter of dismissal, termination, or removal from office? None exists because none was ever issued,” he said.
Explaining his decision, the former coordinator said developments within the Oyo State structure had made it difficult for him to continue with the movement “in good conscience”.
“My decision is based not on bitterness, but on principle,” he stated.
Ajibola said he believed effective leadership should be built on “fairness, loyalty, transparency, competence, and mutual respect”.
He expressed disappointment with certain decisions within the state structure, saying they fell short of the values that initially motivated members to dedicate their time and resources to the movement.
Despite his resignation, Ajibola stressed that his support for President Tinubu remained unchanged.
“Let me, however, make one thing abundantly clear: my resignation from the City Boy Movement does not in any way diminish my support, admiration, and loyalty to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” he said.
He added that he remained committed to promoting the achievements of the Tinubu administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda, including supporting the President’s re-election bid in 2027.
Ajibola also denied making derogatory remarks about Tinubu, Seyi Tinubu, the movement’s Director-General or other members of its national leadership.
He challenged those circulating the allegations to provide evidence, describing the claims as part of a false narrative surrounding his resignation.
The former coordinator thanked members of the City Boy Movement across Oyo State for their support, loyalty and commitment during his tenure.
“I believe that positions may be given and positions may be taken away, but character, integrity, and service remain permanent,” he said.
He added that he had chosen to leave “with my dignity intact, my conscience clear, and my gratitude unwavering” towards those who supported him.
In a separate social media post accompanying his statement, Ajibola wrote: “Not every battle is worth fighting, and not every environment aligns with your values. Sometimes, the greatest act of leadership is knowing when to walk away with your principles, dignity, and self-respect intact.”
He wished the City Boy Movement success in its future activities.
