President tells re-elected governor he “won an election” and should use his second term to strengthen peace and democracy.
President Bola Tinubu has urged re-elected Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, not to stigmatise or victimise his opponents following his victory in the state’s governorship election.
President Tinubu gave the advice on Thursday when he received Governor Adeleke at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, stressing that the governor should see his victory as an opportunity to promote unity, peace and stability across the state.

The President saidGovernor Adeleke did not conquer anyone but simply won an election, adding that the people of Osun had chosen him to govern for another term.
President Tinubu urged the governor to avoid making any individual a victim of the election campaign and instead build a network of unity that would benefit the people and future generations.
He also said anyone who could not celebrate a free and fair election did not deserve the joy and benefits of democracy.
According to the President, Governor Adeleke’s victory was a combination of the support of the people and God’s will, rather than the superiority of any individual or political group.
President Tinubu told Governor Adeleke that he was in a unique position to make history and urged him to promote democracy, the rule of law, peace and stability during his second term.
The President also commended Adeleke and his campaign team for their mobilisation efforts, describing the governor’s approach as evidence of a “progressive instinct.”
