The President described the late politician as an honest friend and committed member of the progressive movement.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of prominent Kano politician and All Progressives Congress chieftain, Alhaji Hamza Usman Darma.
Darma died in Kano on Friday after a brief illness. He was 76.

His funeral prayers were held on Saturday at his residence in Hororo, near the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Kano, after which his remains were laid to rest.
In a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Darma as an honest and sincere friend who made significant contributions to Kano State, the APC and the progressive political movement.
The President recalled his longstanding relationship with the deceased, praising his commitment to the development of Kano State and his dedication to progressive politics.
President Tinubu said Darma’s death would be deeply felt, noting that he “contributed immensely to the development of Kano State” as well as to the APC and its progressive movement.
The President also paid tribute to Darma’s devotion to Islam, describing him as a devout Muslim who remained committed to observing his religious obligations.
President Tinubu extended his condolences to Darma’s family, political associates and members of the APC in Kano State. He also commiserated with Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, over the loss.
The President prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the family the strength to bear the loss and admit the deceased into Aljanna Firdaus.
