The Osun State Government has warned against an alleged plan by some stakeholders to trigger fresh crises across local government areas and motor parks in the state.
The government urged individuals and groups to desist from any action capable of disrupting public peace, stressing that the state is currently focused on post-election reconciliation and peace-building.
The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.
The government expressed condolences to victims of the tensions and violence recorded before the election and called for healing and reconciliation across the state.
It also acknowledged disruptions recorded in some parts of Osun shortly after the election, urging residents to support efforts to restore peaceful coexistence.
The statement said the government was particularly concerned by reports of alleged plans by some stakeholders to reignite crises in local government councils and motor parks.
It warned that any such plan should be halted immediately in the interest of peace and development.
According to the government, the election has been concluded, while President Bola Tinubu and the state governor had agreed on a peaceful path forward.
It added that any attempt to promote violence would undermine the Presidency and the Nigerian Constitution.
The state government also called on security agencies to enforce the rule of law, including ensuring the release of political detainees, while urging an end to what it described as partisan policing, particularly in the management of local governments and motor parks.
The government further appealed to political actors to conduct themselves peacefully, warning against a return to the killings and violence witnessed during the pre-election period.
“Osun should be in a period of healing and building. We must not allow a relapse into the pre-election era of killings and violence,” the statement said.
