Acting Governor sympathises with victims, promises immediate relief and measures to prevent future fire outbreaks.

The Oyo State Government has promised immediate relief for traders affected by a fire outbreak at Oranyan Market in Ibadan.

The fire, which reportedly started around midnight, destroyed shops and goods belonging to traders dealing in gold, furniture, second-hand clothing and other commodities.

The Acting Governor of Oyo State, Bayo Lawal, has described the incident as a tragic loss, saying it had disrupted the livelihoods of hardworking traders and caused hardship for affected families.

He said emergency response teams had been deployed to assess the extent of the damage, while the government was working to provide immediate support to victims and restore the affected sections of the market.

The Acting Governor commended the Oyo State Fire Service and other security agencies for their swift response, urging traders and residents to remain calm.

He also assured the victims that the government would implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
