Results Available for Viewing, But Do Not Guarantee Admission
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results of candidates below the prescribed admission age for viewing.
However, the board stressed that accessing the results does not automatically qualify the candidates for admission into tertiary institutions.
JAMB Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocols, Fabian Benjamin, said on Saturday that an underage candidate is anyone who will be below 16 years by September 30, 2026.
The board said the results were released mainly to enable candidates, parents and guardians know their UTME performance and could not be used for admission except by candidates who meet the requirements for exceptional admission.
To qualify for consideration, candidates must demonstrate exceptional academic ability and maturity, including scoring at least 320 in UTME and obtaining a minimum of 80 per cent in relevant SSCE subjects, where applicable.
They must also meet their chosen institutions’ Post-UTME requirements and undergo further assessment and verification by experts.
JAMB said the process was designed to distinguish genuinely exceptional underage candidates from those who simply performed well in the UTME.
The board added that candidates awaiting their NECO results would be allowed to present them for verification before the final assessment. A date for the final stage will be announced after the results are released.
JAMB also warned parents, guardians and candidates against individuals promising to secure admission for underage candidates outside the approved process.
It reiterated that sitting the UTME and obtaining a result does not guarantee admission, particularly for candidates who have not attained the prescribed admission age.
