Governor Says Vehicles Will Boost Operations and Support Take-Off of State Police
Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has distributed 100 operational vehicles to security agencies in the state to strengthen surveillance, improve mobility and support the eventual take-off of the state police.
The vehicles were handed over to heads of security agencies at a ceremony at the Osuntokun Pavilion, Government House Grounds, Ado-Ekiti.
Governor Oyebanji said the initiative was part of his administration’s efforts to strengthen the state’s security architecture and protect lives and property.
He recalled that the government had previously provided patrol vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, bulletproof vests, helmets and other security equipment to security agencies.
According to the governor, the latest vehicles are expected to increase patrols, improve visibility, enhance response to distress calls and boost operational efficiency.
Governor Oyebanji assured security agencies of continued government support, including regular financial assistance and increased capacity for state-owned security institutions.
He also urged security personnel to remain vigilant and professional, particularly as the state prepares for upcoming political activities and elections.
The governor directed the agencies to properly maintain and use the vehicles, while warning against unprofessional conduct.
He called for greater collaboration among security agencies and urged the intelligence community to maximise available surveillance technology rather than operating in isolation.
Governor Oyebanji also urged residents to support the Federal Government and the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 presidential election, saying continued support for President Bola Tinubu would help sustain development programmes in the state.
