President Orders Probe Into Ondo Aircraft Crash, Directs Flags to Fly at Half-Mast

President Bola Tinubu has mourned Nigerian Air Force personnel who died in an aircraft crash in Ondo State, declaring three days of national mourning in their honour.

In a post on his verified X handle on Tuesday, Tinubu said the personnel put their lives on the line daily to protect Nigeria and that their sacrifice would not be forgotten.

The President commiserated with the families of the deceased, noting that the loss extended beyond the military to spouses, children, parents and other loved ones.

Tinubu directed that national flags be flown at half-mast across the country during the three-day mourning period.

He said the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, had briefed him on the incident and directed the Nigerian Air Force to immediately begin a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.

The President also commended the Air Force for activating search and rescue operations following the accident.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and strength for their families.
