Yari Says APC Campaign Council Will Hold Inaugural Meeting on October 14

President Bola Tinubu will formally launch his 2027 re-election campaign in Kaduna on October 24, according to the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari.

Yari disclosed this on Friday after briefing President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on preparations for the campaign and proposed visits to states across the country.

He said the campaign council’s inaugural meeting would hold on October 14 at the State House Banquet Hall, adding that the full campaign timetable would be released after the meeting.

According to Yari, the campaign’s next stops after Kaduna would be Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Maiduguri, Borno State.

Addressing questions about opposition candidates, Yari expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s chances, citing what he described as the President’s political strength in both northern and southern Nigeria.

He also defended the administration’s record, saying the government had made progress on the economy and would campaign on its achievements rather than promises.

President Tinubu appointed Yari Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council on August 22, 2026, with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma serving as secretary.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027. Campaigns are permitted to run until January 15, 2027.
