Allied Peoples Movement presidential candidate Seyi Makinde has promised to serve only one four-year term if elected President of Nigeria in the 2027 general election.
The Oyo State governor made the pledge at an APM town hall meeting in Yola, Adamawa State, on Saturday, promising to tackle insecurity, poverty and other challenges facing the country.

“Our government will not last beyond four years. And it will be an all-inclusive government,” Makinde said.
His pledge mirrors that of Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, who has also promised to serve a single four-year term if elected.
The pledges come amid discussions around Nigeria’s informal power-sharing arrangement between the North and South, which has influenced political debates over the rotation of the presidency.
President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, who is from the South, is seeking re-election in 2027.
