Arsenal came from behind to beat Leeds United 2-1 on Saturday, drawing level with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Mikel Arteta’s side struggled to break down Leeds’ organised defence in the first half but improved after the interval to secure their fifth win in six league matches this season.

Leeds took the lead in the 55th minute when James Justin finished from inside the box after receiving a cross from Gabriel Gudmundsson, following a well-worked move down the left.

Arsenal responded seven minutes later, with Riccardo Calafiori finding the net after being set up by Ben White.

The Gunners completed the comeback when Bruno Guimarães fired home following a neat attacking move involving Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard and Declan Rice.

Leeds had threatened before the breakthrough, with goalkeeper David Raya making important saves to deny Jayden Bogle and Gudmundsson in the first half. Raya also tipped over a dangerous effort from midfielder Ao Tanaka after the restart.

Arsenal had struggled to create clear chances before the break, managing only one shot on target, while Noni Madueke and Saka found it difficult to make an impact against the visitors’ defence.

The victory took Arsenal to 15 points, level with Manchester City, who remained top on goal difference with a game in hand.

City were scheduled to face Liverpool on Sunday.
