Suspects Allegedly Robbed Tricycle Driver, Two Passengers Near Sumal Junction
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers following a distress call over a robbery incident near Sumal Junction Roundabout in Ibadan.
The incident occurred on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at about 9:15 p.m., when the Divisional Police Officer of Oluyole received information that armed men were dispossessing members of the public of their belongings.

According to the police, a patrol team was immediately deployed to the scene, leading to the arrest of three suspects identified as Sunday Obasola, 29, Kayode Bamikole, 28; and Durodoye Ayobami, 23.

Items recovered from the suspects included a black TVS motorcycle with registration number AKN 808 QF, a locally fabricated cut-to-size pistol and a live cartridge.
The command said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects had allegedly robbed a tricycle driver and two passengers and injured other people during their operations.
The suspects remain in police custody, while the case has been transferred to the Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU) in Eleyele, Ibadan, for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property through prompt responses to distress calls and intelligence-led policing.
