… defeats Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen in party primary
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has emerged as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general election.
Atiku secured the party’s ticket after defeating former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and former banker Mohammed Hayatu-Deen during the party’s presidential primary.
Results announced by the party on Wednesday night showed that Atiku polled 1,855,787 votes to clinch the nomination.
Amaechi finished second with 509,397 votes, while Hayatu-Deen recorded 180,903 votes.
The outcome officially positions Atiku as the ADC flagbearer for the 2027 presidential election.
