… Lagos CAN chairman condemns killings and kidnappings, backs Tinubu’s security efforts
The Lagos State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Stephen Adegbite, has urged Nigerians not to lose confidence in the Federal Government’s ability to tackle insecurity across the country.

Adegbite, who also serves as Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission and Chaplain of the Aso Rock Villa Chapel, made the appeal during a media briefing on Thursday.
The cleric addressed rising security concerns, including kidnappings and attacks in different parts of the country, particularly the recent abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State.
He condemned the killing of a Mathematics teacher, Michael Oyedokun, by abductors in Oyo, describing the act as inhuman and contrary to genuine religious teachings.
According to him, Nigerians must continue supporting security agencies through cooperation, prayers and the sharing of useful information that could aid security operations.
Adegbite defended the administration of Bola Tinubu, saying the Federal Government is taking strategic measures to confront insecurity nationwide.
He added that some ongoing security operations cannot be publicly disclosed for tactical reasons.
The CAN chairman also described the appointment of a Special Adviser on Homeland Security as a positive development that would strengthen intelligence gathering and national security coordination.
While acknowledging citizens’ constitutional rights to peaceful protest and free expression, Adegbite warned against demonstrations capable of causing instability or deepening divisions in the country.
He urged political actors and pressure groups to pursue their ambitions through democratic and constitutional means.
Adegbite further commended the All Progressives Congress for granting Tinubu its presidential ticket for a second term, saying continuity would help consolidate ongoing reforms.
He also congratulated Obafemi Hamzat on emerging as the APC governorship candidate in Lagos State, describing him as an experienced technocrat and administrator capable of sustaining Lagos’ development.
The cleric called on Nigerians to remain united despite political, ethnic and religious differences, expressing optimism that the country would overcome its current challenges.
