The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, has expressed concern over the omission of his name and that of his running mate, Sowunmi-Kolapo, from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) final list of candidates for the 2027 governorship election.
Adebutu, in a statement, maintained that he remained a duly registered member of the PDP, having completed his digital registration within the stipulated period. He said his membership card had been printed and verified, while the necessary documentation was submitted to INEC within the prescribed timeframe.

He also stated that he had not left the party and remained committed to its activities.
The PDP candidate said the governorship primary that produced him as the party’s flag bearer was conducted with INEC officials present as observers, adding that relevant documents were made available for verification and certification.
Adebutu said the omission of his name raised questions, particularly as other PDP candidates contesting for seats in the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate appeared on INEC’s published lists.
He said the matter would be pursued through the appropriate channels to ensure due process was followed.
The former governorship candidate also alleged that the party had faced challenges during its campaign, including restrictions on billboards, attacks at campaign grounds and harassment of members.
He urged party members, supporters and residents of Ogun State to remain calm, expressing confidence that the matter would be resolved.
Adebutu reaffirmed his commitment to what he described as the struggle for better leadership and improved welfare in Ogun State, insisting that the people should have a fair opportunity to choose their leaders.
He said the PDP remained committed to its “OGUN FOR OGUN” campaign message, which he described as a call for leadership focused on the needs and welfare of the people.
The PDP candidate urged the government and relevant authorities to respect due process, while pledging to remain focused on the party’s political objectives.
