Party also secures 176 of 178 councillorship seats in state local government elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 17 chairmanship seats contested in Saturday’s Yobe State local government elections.

The Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YSIEC) also declared APC candidates winners in 176 of the 178 councillorship seats.

YSIEC Chairman, Ibrahim Yabani, announced the results on Sunday after the completion of voting, counting and collation across the state’s 17 local government areas.

Yabani said 10 political parties participated in the election, contesting the chairmanship and councillorship positions across the state’s 178 wards.

The Action Democratic Party (ADP) and All Peoples Party (APP) won one councillorship seat each in Fune and Karasuwa local government areas.

Chairman of the Inter Party Advisory Committee in the state, Umar Jajere, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election.

Certificates of return will be presented to the winners at a later date before their swearing-in.
